OneWeb
Established in 2012 with a mission to connect everyone, everywhere, OneWeb's innovative satellite constellation will provide low latency, high-speed global coverage. A non-geostationary (NGSO) and low Earth orbiting (LEO) satellite constellation, OneWeb's satellites will be in a polar orbit at 1,200 kIlometers above Earth. OneWeb's initial constellation will provide full global coverage with approximately 600 satellites using both Ku and Ka bands, and will scale over time to meet growing demands.
It has partnered with Airbus to manufacture its satellites and with Arianespace and Virgin Galactic to launch its satellites. The first set of satellites are scheduled to deploy in the first quarter of 2019.
OneWeb has secured more than $2 billion in funding from a range of world-class investors such as Qualcomm, Virgin Galactic, Hughes Network Systems, Intelsat, Bharti, Grupo Salinas, and Coca-Cola. Each will bring their added value for the manufacturing and commercial deployment of the OneWeb system.
