VSAT Hardware & Software PSB

As of August 2014, the Task Force has developed and released the GVF Product Security Baseline (PSB), a consensus-based specification guideline that establishes best practices for VSAT hardware and software providers in the areas of secure product development, vulnerability reporting, handling and disclosure.  The PSB details a number of Product Security Security Specifications and Vendor Security Process recommendations for VSAT hardware and software that supports or transmits on an IPv4 or IPv6 network.  As scrutiny of satellite industry cyber-security continues, the Cyber-Security Task Force will update the PSB to improve and advance security integrity measures as the threat landscape evolves and as security practices mature and become better understood.

Even as the Task Force continues to establish guidelines and processes around cyber-security practices for the industry, the group will move forward with developing additional security baselines and guidelines for network operators and end-users.

Participation in this productive working group is open to any GVF Member.  The group meets regularly, and as needed, to fulfill the Task Force's Mission.
